What it's about
Karina Leopold has spent her life as the overlooked child of an aristocratic family. Neither the celebrated heir nor one of the cherished younger siblings, she learned to stay quiet and pour her feelings into her paintings. Her gift is extraordinary: she can bring what she draws to life. But when she learns that an incurable illness will kill her within a year, she decides not to spend that year continuing to please her family. Karina leaves for the northern estate of her barely acquainted fiancé, Milian Pastellio, and offers him a deal: let her stay for a year, then she will end their unwanted engagement. Milian’s response is not the rejection she expects. As her health remains a private burden, their awkward arrangement slowly becomes the first place where Karina feels truly wanted.
