What it's about
In an alternate Japan, parliamentary democracy has collapsed and the country is ruled through the National Quiz, a massively popular television game show whose authority is effectively absolute. Contestants can have extraordinary wishes granted if they win, while failure can bring punishment, forced labor or military conscription. At the center of the spectacle is K-i K-ichi, a former actor and failed contestant who has become the show's charismatic host. As resistance movements, political conspiracies and international tensions grow around the program, K-i K-ichi becomes both the face of the regime and a key figure in the struggle over its future.
