Pure Trance

After the Third World War leaves Earth's surface toxic, humanity retreats underground and survives with the help of a life-sustaining pill called Pure Trance. The drug creates a new social crisis: hyperorexia, an uncontrollable need to eat. The story begins inside Over Eaters Treatment Center 102, a hospital ruled by the tyrannical director Keiko Yamazaki, where nurses and patients endure abuse, bizarre medical experiments and a culture twisted by food, beauty, celebrity and control. From there the manga spirals into alien encounters, body modification, pop-idol obsession and grotesque science-fiction satire.
